I was stunned today when i was meditating on a scripture reference in Wisdom 2:23-24, as part of my daily meditation on the word.
“For God created human beings to be immortal, he made them as an image of his own nature; 24 Death came into the world only through the Devil’s envy, as those who belong to him find to their cost.” (Vatican Catholic Bible)
Another translation reads: 23 For God formed us to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made us.p24 But by the envy* of the devil, death entered the world, and they who are allied with him experience it.” (Unites States Conference of Catholic Bishops)
It is fascinating to realise that it means God created human beings to be immortal, which is both God’s nature and what God meant by, “let us make man in our own image.” By dying for us, as a willing sacrifice on the cross, Christ really took our place of death to restore us back to life, to become eternal beings like God again, once we leave this earth in which the devil brought death. So once you are a Christian, you should look forward to leaving this earth when the time comes, provided we continuously “work out our salvation” Philippians 2:12, towards holiness.
May the Lord continue to bless you, me and all who believe and call upon His holy name, to stay steadfast in our faith and inform those who do not know or understand Christ, to bring them to Jeshua /Jesus.
